Let's Party!
We off course need a very special day for a very special birthday. And as this is to become a very special event, let's have it only once (we can then decide to celebrate it more often). After working out all the possibilities, when and where, the November 13th Mastermind has eventually made his decision:And the winner is:
2012 / 11 / 13 in Cairns / Australia
It's a Thursday - I know. But once in your life you can have a party on a Thursday, isn't it? Why Cairns? Wikipedia Readers know more: On November 13th 2012 will be a Total Solar Eclipse in the South Pacific. I quote from Wikipedia: “The most populous city to experience totality will be Cairns, which will experience 2 minutes of totality just an hour after daybreak (6:38 am AEST) with the sun at an altitude of just 14°.” Details can be found here.
So on the contrary to earlier plans the November13-Mastermind (that's me) made the decision to transfer the event to Cairns (Queensland, Australia - fairly exactly the antipodes from good ol' Vienna). So: Combine your birthday with a holiday in down under, enjoy a unique astronomical event and have a birthday beach party you will remember a lifetime! What more can you get on one single (birth-) day?
